Head of the Department of Environment (DoE) Masoumeh Ebtekar said Thursday that no official can promise a workable solution to the dust storms and people will have to come to terms with the problem, according to Khuz News. “Dust storms are a regional problem, and as such, international cooperation is required to reduce the devastating effects of the phenomenon,” she said. In addition to western and southwestern provinces, the effects of the dust storms have been felt in provinces as far as Tehran in recent weeks, Ebtekar said. “Climate change, mismanagement of resources, and excessive use of water have all played a part in exacerbating the impact of dust storms,” she asserted, adding that it would be impossible to promise an end to the problem in the foreseeable future.
