Polluting Units to Be Prosecuted

Industrial units which lack wastewater treatment facilities will be prosecuted, Mehr News quoted director general of Tehran’s Department of Environment (DoE) Mohammad-Hadi Heydarzadeh as saying.
Inaugurating the industrial wastewater treatment facility of Farma Chemistry Pharmaceuticals last week, Herydarzadeh told the press that the establishment of the facility is a testament to the company’s compliance with its legal obligations and social responsibilities.
“Nearly all food and drug factories in Tehran Province are equipped with wastewater treatment systems,” he announced.
Units which produce wastewater must be equipped with industrial wastewater treatment facilities, Heydarzadeh said, adding that factories with over 100 personnel are also obliged to establish human waste treatment systems.
Failure to comply with the law will result in the company being blacklisted by the DoE, and legal action could be taken against the violator.
