Zayandehrud River will continue flowing until the end of May, public relations office of the ministry of energy announced in a press release, ILNA reported. Based on data recorded at Chalgard and Mabna stations, Zayandehrud drainage basin has had 1,330 mm precipitation since September 23, 2014, according to Mehrzad Ehsani, director general of Iran Water Resources Management Company. The recent figure signifies a considerable growth compared to the average precipitation of the past several years, promising a normal water year. The last drought period started in 2007; since then, the recently recorded amount of precipitation at Chalgard station in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province has been the highest measured figure. In view of the favorable status of precipitation, Zayandehrud dam is expected to store more water than seen in recent years. The dam has been fed with 640 million cubic meters of water since September 23, 2014, which is a pleasant surprise considering the low figures expected.
