The second phase of Ilam Gas Refinery in the western province of the same name will be constructed in the near future and will production by 50%, the managing director of the refinery said.
National Iranian Gas Company has delegated the Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company with the project, Oil Ministry News website Shana reported Shahryar Daripour as saying.
The refinery currently uses 6.8 million cubic meters of sour gas a day as feedstock and this volume will increase to 10 mcm when the second phase comes online, he said.
Besides supplying refined gas to the national grid for domestic consumption, the plant also produces ethane, gas condensate and sulfur.

The refinery produced 60,000 tons of sulfur last year, half of which was used by local industries and 30,000 tons were exported.
