Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company in Khuzestan Province exported 1.2 million tons of petrochemicals in the first 10 months of the current fiscal (started March 2018), the managing director said.
“Exports, including aromatics and a variety of polyolefin, generated $750 million in the 10 months,” ISNA quoted Hamidreza Rostami as saying.
Re-imposition of US sanctions that targeted the key oil industry and were implemented in November, undermined exports. “But so far we continue to produce and export and there has been no major problem,” Rostami said.
It is anticipated that the company will generate another $85 million by March.
Referring to the construction of an olefin production plant in the company, he said, “One of our main projects is to increase production capacity and complete the value chain. The new plant will cost $550 million.”
One of the largest industrial companies in Iran, BIPC is based in the southern city of Bandar Imam Khomeini in Mahshahr county. Built in 1973, it produces chemicals, aromatics, polymers and LPG.
