NIDC Conducts 105 Oil and Gas Drilling Operations

The National Iranian Drilling Company has drilled and repaired 105 onshore and offshore wells since last March, the company’s deputy managing director for drilling operations said.

"With the help of 3 offshore and 69 onshore rigs, NIDC, a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company, has drilled 143,000 meters of oil and gas wells nationwide," Mohammad Ale-Khamis was quoted as saying by Shana, the Oil Ministry news portal.

Of the total, 47 were development and exploratory wells and 58 underwent repairs.

"The wells were drilled in oilfields managed by the National Iranian South Oil Company, the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company in the West Karoun oil block that includes several large oilfields straddling the Iran-Iraq border, namely Yaran, Yadavaran and Darkhoein," Ale-Khamis said.

Fat'h-32, 33 and 74 drilling rigs were sent to Fars and Khouzestan provinces for drilling two exploratory wells.

A leading player in the key oil and gas drilling industry in the Middle East, NIDC is working to secure a footprint in the oil- and gas-rich states namely in Iraq, Oman and Qatar.

NIDC undertakes both offshore and onshore drilling and provides more than 90% of drilling services needed by domestic oil companies.
