NIDC Reports Stellar Performance Over 4 Decades

The National Iranian Drilling Company, a subsidiary of National Iranian Oil Company, undertakes most drilling operations across the country and drilled 4,489 onshore and offshore oil and gas wells in nearly 40 years, the company’s managing director said.

Speaking on the occasion marking the 39th foundation of NIDC, Seyed Abdollah Mousavi said 4,092 wells were drilled on land and 397 in deep waters, the NIOC news portal reported.

Giving a breakdown, he said, “Drilling ventures so far have included 2,372 development wells, 137 exploratory wells and 104 appraisal wells. A total of 1,876 wells were repaired during the four-decade period."

Mousavi noted that the company has played a key role in drilling exploratory and development wells in Azadegan oil field in Khuzestan Province near the Iraqi border and in South Pars, the world's largest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

The NIDC has carried out drilling projects in Yaran, Yadavaran and Darkhoin oil fields in Khuzestan, and the Azar oil field in Ilam Province in recent years, he said.

NIDC, involved in 70% of Iran's onshore drilling, has 75 drilling rigs 68 of which are used in joint oilfields, namely Azar and South Pars.

It undertakes both offshore and onshore drilling contracts and provides 90% of drilling services of domestic energy companies.

NIDC services include well logging, cementing and acidizing, drill stem test, well testing, training, development and general services.

Mousavi asserted that NIDC procures domestic goods and services in the framework of its policy to promote products of local knowledge-based companies.

The company is willing to undertake drilling operations and subsidiary services overseas. “We are in talks with countries in the region, including Iraq, for future collaboration,” he was quoted as saying.
