    Iran Petrochem Exports Exceed 12m Tons in 7 Months (Mar-Oct 2018)

    Petrochemical production in the first seven months of the current fiscal (March 21- Oct. 22) reached 32 million tons, the National Petrochemical Company said in a report.

    Of the total output, 12.6 million tons, worth $7.4 billion, was destined for foreign markets, NIPNA, the NPC’s news agency reported. It did name the overseas destinations. 

    Nominal annual production capacity of 57 major petrochemical complexes, located mostly in Mahshahr (Khuzestan Province) and Asalouyeh (Bushehr Province), is expected to reach 72 million tons by March.

    NPC said 21 complexes in Mahshahr produced 11.3 million tons of petrochemicals in the seven-month period of which 3.4 million tons was exported. 

    Plans are in place to produce 21 million tons of petrochemicals in Mahshahr by March 2019. Nominal production capacity of petrochemical plants in Mahshahr is to 25.6 million tons.

    Production from 16 complexes in Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asalouyeh hit 14.3 million tons half of which was exported.

    The capacity of Asalouyeh complexes is around 32.7 million tons per year, with actual production expected to be in the range of 26 million tons.

    Other petrochemical complexes located in Lorestan, Khorasan, Shiraz and Bushehr Provinces produced 6.4 million tons in seven months. The news agency report said the companies sold 2.5 million tons of its commodities.

    Iran's total petrochemical output in the month ending Oct. 22 reached 4.4 million tons, 1.6 million tons of which was exported.
