Compressed natural gas will be supplied to the cities of Zabol and Khash, both in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province, in the second half of the current Iranian year (ending March 20, 2019), the managing director of National Iranian Gas Company said.
“We have pledged to deliver CNG to Zabol and Khash in this year’s second half, which I hope we can fulfill,” Hamidreza Araqi was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Friday.
CNG is made by compressing natural gas (which is mainly composed of methane) to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored and distributed in hard containers usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes.
According to Araqi, CNG delivery is a temporary measure to provide gas for underprivileged cities until the main plan to supply natural gas to consumers via pipelines is implemented.
