NIDC Conducts 43 Drilling Operations in 3 Months

The National Iranian Drilling Company has completed drilling operations at 43 onshore and offshore wells during the first three months of the current fiscal year (March 21-June 21), NIDC's deputy managing director said.

"By employing 70 offshore and onshore rigs, NIDC has drilled over 57,418 meters of oil and gas wells nationwide in the period," Hamidreza Khoshayand was also quoted as saying by Shana, the National Iranian Oil Company's news agency. 

According to the official, of the total number of drilled wells, 22 were developmental and exploratory, while 21 underwent repair, five of which were completed ahead of schedule.

"As soon as the wells were drilled, the National Iranian South Oil Company, Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company and the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, as employers, started to use them to boost the fields' output," Khoshayand said.

"The firm has indigenized 240 strategic drilling equipment in collaboration with domestic manufacturers and technicians."

Khoshayand noted that Fat'h-33 drilling rig is being deployed in Fars Province to undertake drilling operations at an exploratory well.

"The state-run company utilizes modern drilling methods in addition to complying with health, safety and environment regulations," he said. 

NIDC was founded in 1979 and operates as a subsidiary of NIOC. It engages in the exploration, development and delineation drilling of oil and gas wells, especially in joint oilfields, namely South Azadegan, 80 kilometers west of Ahvaz in Khuzestan along the Iraq border, Azar in Ilam Province as well as South Pars, the world's largest gas field shared between Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.

The company’s services include well logging, cementing and acidizing, drill stem test, well testing, training, development and general services. NIDC is in charge of offshore and onshore drilling activities. It provides more than 90% of drilling services needed by domestic oil companies.
