Dutch Firm Eyes Petrochem JVs

Despite the possibility of the enforcement of new US sanctions against Iran's petrochemical industry, European firms are interested in launching joint ventures with Iranian enterprises on developing the key petrochemical sector, the Dutch Control Seal's regional sales manager said.

"Long-term plans are in place to transfer technology to the country," Siavash Shojaei was quoted as saying by NIPNA, the National Petrochemical Company's news agency.

According to the official, the Dutch firm had earlier supplied valves to Jam Petrochemical Company in the southern Bushehr Province, Kermanshah Petrochemical Plant in the namesake western province and Arak Petrochemical Complex in Markazi Province.

"Control Seal manufactures a wide range of special valves like axial flow valves, which have been used to develop the giant South Pars Gas Field phases 1 to 24 in the Persian Gulf," Shojaei said, adding that the company has opened an office in Iran.

The official noted that although many European firms ended their cooperation with the National Petrochemical Company, Control Seal continued its active presence in the countries' projects and intends to stay in Iran even if the US reimposes sanctions.

"Control Seal's products have a unique design, short lead time, competitive pricing and excellent after-sales support. It has more than 30 years of experience in the valve business and over 100 years in precise engineering," he said.

  Atmos International

According to Mohammad Ali, an official of the UK-based Atmos International Company, the firm is eager to play a more active role in Iran's lucrative petrochemical industry.

"The company is conducting an extensive marketing survey in both downstream and upstream sectors," he said, adding that Atmos is equipped with the cutting-edge pipeline leak and theft detection technologies that have been introduced to Iranian companies.

"Atmos Rupture Detector alarms with a high level of reliability, providing the confidence to quickly shut down a pipeline in the event of a rupture," he added.

Ali noted that the company is cooperating with the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company and the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company through its representative.
