The distribution of Euro-4 diesel will commence in June throughout the country, a deputy at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said. "Currently Euro-4 diesel production stands at 28 million liters per day," Mohammad Reza Mousavikhah was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Wednesday.
"Refineries in Tehran, Arak, Isfahan and Lavan produced 26 ml/d in 2017. By March 2019, diesel output will reach 110 million liters, of which 70 million liters will comply with Euro-4 standards."
According to the Oil Ministry's website, Euro-4 gasoline and diesel distributed in the country by the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company meets international standards. Rejecting speculations about the high proportion of sulfur in the fuel distributed in Tehran, which was declared by the officials of Tehran Air Quality Control Company, a subsidiary of Tehran Municipality, NIORDC noted that prior to the distribution of Euro-4 gasoline, the fuel contained as much as 350 parts per million (ppm) of sulfur, which amount has plummeted to 50 ppm that is within global limits. However, NIORDC said in a statement, "There are no concerns over the quality of Euro-4 gasoline and diesel distributed in mega cities."
The statement noted that concerted efforts have been made to facilitate the process of monitoring the quality of fuel on a regular basis and as of 2014, special refineries have been selected to provide metropolitan areas with the fuel.
