KPC Exports Exceed $260m

Kurdestan Petrochemical Company in western Iran has exported over 215,000 tons of polyethylene, worth $263.6 million, in the 11 months ending Feb. 21.

According to NIPNA, the National Petrochemical Company's news agency, the company's output is expected to surpass 240,000 tons by March.

The company exported 26,000 tons of commodities worth $29 million to international markets between Jan. 21 and Feb. 19.

According to Fereidoun Khaledzadeh, KPC’s managing director, the nominal capacity of the plant stands at 300,000 per annum.

"The complex started production in early March as it received feedstock from a 1,200-kilometer pipeline—known as the West Ethylene Pipeline—that runs from Asalouyeh in the south all the way to West Azarbaijan Province in the northwest," Khaledzadeh said, adding that 70% of goods are sold in international markets.

The complex was officially inaugurated by President Hassan Rouhani in late March. An investment of about $326 million was made to build the company.
