Total to Announce South Pars Phase 11 Tender Results

The first round of tenders for the development of South Pars Phase 11 has been completed and subcontractors have been selected, the managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company said.

“The French oil and gas giant Total, as the main contractor of the phase, will soon announce the result of tenders to its employer (National Iranian Oil Company) to be finalized and start the operational phase,” Mohammad Meshkinfam was also quoted as saying by NIOC’s news portal on Wednesday.

Stressing that procedures for implementing the development contract of Phase 11 are moving as scheduled, Meshkinfam noted that Total is currently involved with the final scrutiny of tender packages.

The official said a daily average of 550 million cubic meters of gas have been extracted from South Pars in the past two and a half months, underlining that over 56 mcm/d of sour gas are due to be added to the current volume by the middle of the next fiscal year that starts on March 21.

Noting that platforms of phases 13 and 14 are planned to be installed in the near future, he said that according to projections, Platform 14A will go on stream in the next weeks, while Platform 14C is planned to become operational two or three months afterwards. Each platform has a gas production capacity of 14.2 million cubic meters per day.

On plans to curb gas flaring in South Pars, Meshkinfam said the design of eliminating flaring gas in phases 2 and 3 is in the last stages, stressing that the operational stage of the plan will start soon. He added that similar plans are due to be implemented in the other phases of South Pars.

Referring to the completion of laying pipelines between phases 4-8, Meshkinfam said that as per the plan, about 12 million cubic meters of sour gas can be transferred from phases 6-8 to the refinery of phases 4 and 5 for sweetening.

South Pars is the world's largest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. The mega gas project is being developed in 24 phases.

--- Phases 22-24 Development

Farhad Izadjou, director of phases 22-24, said the development of the three phases has made an 88% progress and is due to be completed early next fiscal year (starting March 21).

According to the official, the onshore refinery for phases 22, 23 and 24 is more than 90% complete.

He added that all the activities concerning the design, construction, equipment supplies, operations and drilling have been conducted by domestic players.

The drilling of 38 wells with a total depth of 200 kilometers in deep sea has been completed.

Iran Marine Industrial Company, also known as SADRA, is responsible for building the four platforms needed for phases 22-24.
