Fuel Delivery App Launched in Tehran

Tehran Municipality has launched an on-demand fuel delivery service. According to Ehsan Jafari-Tabar, executive manager of the project, the service, available through the mobile app 'Pido', is currently running a pilot phase in District 2 with 50 fuel tanks of 1,000-liter capacity, IRNA reported.

"The operation will be scaled across the whole capital in mid-spring and the number of trucks will be increased to 300," he added.

Other major cities, including Shiraz, Mashhad, Isfahan, Ahvaz and Bandar Abbas, are the next potential destinations of Pido.

Using the app, drivers have to pay the ordinary gasoline price in addition to a delivery fee that depends on the daytime, traffic jam and weather conditions. Costs will be determined prior to finalizing an order.

The move comes in the face of heightened concerns about suffocating air pollution and traffic jams in major cities. "The app can help reduce vehicles' unnecessary commuting," Jafari-Tabar said.
