Iranian Firm to Start Export of LPG Tanks to Iraq

Butane Industrial Group, a major Iranian gas company, signed a memorandum of understanding with Basra Gas Company for the export of liquefied petroleum gas storage tanks to Iraq, the secretary-general of Iran-Iraq Chamber of Commerce said.

"Based on the agreement signed this weekend, Butane company is set to provide the Arab partner with LPG tanks that are to be used in different sectors, including hybrid vehicles, hospitals and residential complexes," Hamid Hosseini was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Saturday.

Hosseini added that the cooperation is aimed at using the tanks as a safe substitute for gas cylinders, which are highly prone to explosion.

LPG cylinders are widely distributed in Iraq and used for cooking and driving cars. In 2017, Iran's LPG shipments totaled 3.5 million tons, with the highest monthly volume seen in August at 423,000 tons before the maintenance, which ended around mid-November.
