Gachsaran Oil and Gas Production Company, a subsidiary of the National Iranian South Oil Company, is currently producing 620,000 barrels of crude oil per day, the company's managing director said.
"GOGPC's production exceeded the delineated outlook for the current fiscal [ending March 20] as 10,000 barrels have been added to the company's daily oil production of 610,000 barrels," Houshang Seidali was also quoted as saying by IRNA on Thursday.
Previous reports in January revealed the company's efforts to launch two new oil desalting projects in February, namely Gachsaran-3 desalting plant with a capacity to process 110,000 bpd and Bibi Hakimeh-1 plant with a 55,000 bpd capacity for boosting crude production.
Underscoring policies to raise crude production capacity and quality, Seidali had said that the units would help the firm raise its oil desalting capacity by 165,000 bpd, increasing Iran’s oil output capacity by 25,000 bpd.
However, in his Thursday talk, he did not elaborate on the new plants' implementation.
According to the official, transportable processing equipment played a role in raising the company's output.
"More than 841,000 barrels of oil have been processed this year via mobile oil separators and mobile oil treating units," he said.
Seidali noted that quality tests and thickness measurements have been conducted on oil equipments as another move to increase the company's productivity.
"Some 34,733 critical points along the GOGPC's pipelines and natural gas compressor stations have been scrutinized … The move has helped prevent oil leaks from pipelines," he said.
GOGPC, the country's second largest oil producer after the National Iranian South Oil Company, also produces nearly 34 million cubic meters of gas and 35,000 barrels of naphtha.
The company is extracting oil from the southwestern Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad Province's oilfields that produce about 20% of Iran’s total crude oil.
It has 10 production units, 10 gas compressor stations, three gas and liquid gas refineries, five desalting units and over 6,700 kilometers of oil pipelines straddling the country.
The move follows the Oil Ministry's recent plan to support oil-rich regions. Based on the scheme announced earlier by Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, the ministry will allocate 3-4% of oil revenues to renovation of dilapidated equipment in such regions.
According to Zanganeh, Gachsaran has high potential in the oil industry. The city’s oilfields are included in a $5-billion development plan that will be finalized soon. He did not provide further details.
