Iran's average gasoline production stands at 66 million liters per day, chief executive officer of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said.

"Domestic gasoline consumption has reached an average of 79 million liters per day since the beginning of the current fiscal (March 21), indicating an 8.5% increase compared with last year's corresponding period," Mansour Riahi was also quoted as saying by ISNA on Friday.

Pointing to the 13-million-liter difference between daily demand and output, Riahi said, "Besides imports, the government also taps into gasoline inventories to meet the growing demand."

According to the official, gasoline consumption in July, at 83 mIran's average gasoline production stands at 66 million liters per day, chief executive officer of thel/d, experienced a 9% increase compared to previous months when Iranians on average consumed 74 million liters per day.

"The overproduction of cars and motorcycles by domestic manufacturers in the last two years has further aggravated the situation," Riahi said.
