AEOI Team in Moscow for Nuclear Energy Talks

An Iranian delegation is in Moscow to explore prospects for collaboration with state-owned energy company Rosatom.
The delegation is headed by Behrouz Kamalvand, deputy for international and legal affairs at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, IRNA reported.
Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom, is the regulatory body of that country's nuclear installations. It runs all nuclear assets of the Russian Federation.
The talks are expected to revolve around two new nuclear power plants planned to be built in Iran's southern Bushehr Province with Russian collaboration.
Moscow has been at the forefront of Iran's nuclear power industry in the past two decades. It took over the construction of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Iran's only nuclear reactor with production capacity of 1,000 megawatts, from the Germans in 1995 and commissioned the plant in September 2011 on the back of long and extended technical hurdles as well as international restrictions.
The plant reached full production capacity in 2012.
The new nuclear projects will cost upwards of $10 billion. The second reactor is slated to become operational in October 2024 and the third by April 2026, according to reports.
Russian companies are also building a 1,400 MW thermal power plant in southern Hormozgan Province.
