NIDC, Scottish Company Sign Training Agreement

Aberdeen Drilling School (ADS) has signed a five-year agreement with the National Iranian Drilling Company to hold training courses in the country.
The agreement was signed late Wednesday in Ahvaz in the southern oil-rich Khuzestan Province by Mohammadreza Takaidi, NIDC deputy chief, and James David Sutherland, the ADS director, Mehr News Agency reported.
"ADS is to bring Iran's petroleum sector up to speed with advanced well control and drilling techniques," said Abdolreza Mousavi, head of the NIDC training department.
Based in the port city of Aberdeen northwest of Scotland, ADS is a leader in well control training, offering both public courses and customized courses for individual client companies.
"Under the five-year deal, participants will be awarded certificates for well control. Moreover, ADS will provide the software, instructors and training material and NIDC will provide classes and facilities," Mousavi noted.
Following the lifting of international economic sanctions last year, Tehran has reached out to foreign companies and organizations to acquire advanced knowhow for its key petroleum industry.
The UK-based Lloyd’s Register, a global engineering, technical and business services organization, has signed an agreement to provide Iranian companies with health, safety and environment services and training programs.
Tehran has also opened talks with the French Institute of Petroleum, officially known as IFP, to expand cooperation in a variety of areas, namely boosting extraction from oil fields via the enhanced recovery techniques, new gas sweetening methods, management of water resources, improving environmental protection, reducing gas flaring and conducting seismic studies on oil and gas fields.
