India's Finance Ministry has imposed anti-dumping duty on linear alkyl benzene (LAB) imports from Iran, Qatar and China. LAB is an important input in the detergent industry. Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd and Nirma Ltd had filed a petition seeking the imposition of anti-dumping duty on LAB imports from the three countries, Arab Oil and Gas reported Friday. Apart from the petitioners, two more producers of LAB in India -- Indian Oil Corporation and Reliance Industries Ltd -- supported the petition. The anti-dumping duty ranges from $23.78 per ton to $300.22 per ton, depending on the producer and exporter from these countries. Earlier this year, an official at Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture said India's anti-dumping rules against Iran's petrochemical shipments had made it difficult for Tehran to compete with Saudi Arabia in the world's fastest growing economy.
