The visiting Belarusian Minister of Industry Vitaly Vovk on Tuesday discussed the export of crude oil and byproducts and manufacture of oil equipment in a meeting in Tehran with Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.

“We look forward to expanding energy ties that would serve the interests of the two countries in the long-term,” Zanganeh was quoted as saying by IRNA late on Tuesday.

Belarus has been in talks in recent months to import Iranian oil. The eastern European state is trying to diversify its energy supplies as it faces decline in oil deliveries from Russia.

During his visit to Tehran, Vovk met with several senior officials.

In a session with First Vice-President Es’haq Jahangiri on Monday, Vovk said his country is willing to cooperate with Iran in various fields, especially oil refining and import of petrochemicals.

The Belarusian minister also conferred with Ahmad Doust-Hosseini, chairman of the board of executive directors at National Development Fund of Iran (NDFI).

He exchanged views on setting up a joint economic commission in an effort to ease bilateral trade

Underscoring that the two countries can collaborate in oil and gas development projects, Vovk said Minsk is ready to provide Iran the knowhow to manufacture oil drilling equipment.
