A group of senior executives from Russia’s Gazprom are expected to visit Tehran in the first week of December to discuss grounds for collaboration in the energy sector, the deputy oil minister for international affairs said. Amirhossein Zamaninia made the statement on the sidelines of an oil conference in Moscow, IRNA reported on Friday. Gazprom is the biggest gas supplier in the European market providing more than a quarter of Europe’s demand. According to the company, it delivered 158.6 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe in 2015.  The delegation plans to follow up negotiations on the development of an unnamed Iranian oilfield in the Persian Gulf as well as liquefied natural gas projects in Iran. According to Russian news service RBTH, Gazprom had sent a note to Iranian authorities in August with a request to participate in gas liquefaction for exports. In addition, the two sides are said to discuss forming a workgroup of Iranian and Russian energy specialists.
