The 16th International Electricity Exhibition of Iran is scheduled to be held in Tehran from November 5-8. According to officials, 350 domestic and 295 foreign companies from 21 countries will take part in the international event, which will showcase investment opportunities as well as progress in the key electricity and renewable energy sectors, Mehr News Agency reported. Attended by prominent electrical companies, manufacturers and vendors, the expo is aimed at providing an opportunity for participants and visitors to reach the maximum number of electrical professionals of Iran and the world. Houshang Falahatian, the deputy energy minister, said international firms have had a greater contribution to the exhibition compared to previous years. "Serious negotiations are underway with foreign enterprises to invest in Iran's power industry, yet none has come to fruition," he said. Increasing power plants efficiency, technology transfer to the country and attracting the much-needed fund to develop power industry infrastructures top the priority list of energy ministry. According to government data, around 62,000 megawatts, or 80% of Iran's 75,000-MW output, are generated from thermal plants that burn fossil fuels.
