US President Barack Obama and Poland's Andrzej Duda agreed on Friday that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project was not a good idea, the Polish leader’s spokesman said. Obama and Duda met for bilateral talks on the margins of the NATO summit in Warsaw, Poland, which is devoted to enhancing military presence in Eastern Europe, Sputnik reported. "The presidents … devoted a few minutes to the issue of energy security and expressed their joint opinion, including on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline construction. Their positions are very close: it is not a good idea," the spokesman said. The Nord Stream 2 pipeline could deliver up to 55 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas through the Baltic Sea to Germany, bypassing Poland. Russia’s energy giant Gazprom will hold 50% of the shares, with the rest to be distributed among MV, BASF, Engie, Shell and Uniper.
