The first phase of Marun Petrochemical Company’s compounding unit, with a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year, will go on stream by the end of the current Iranian year that ends on March 20, 2017.

“Marun petrochemical compounding unit will be set up with the goal of completing the petrochemical value chain in the downstream sector and curbing the sale of raw materials,” Shana quoted Seyyed Rahim Sharif Mousavi, the company’s managing director, as saying.

Mousavi made the statement on the sidelines of the visit of Deputy Oil Minister Marzieh Shahdaei to the complex in Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Khuzestan Province. According to the official, the compounding unit will be built at a cost of $12.8 million in euro and rial.

“For the unit to become operational, we need four pieces of machinery: two have already been purchased and will be delivered in the next weeks, and the other machines are due to be supplied in months,” he said. Mousavi noted that each machine has the annual capacity of producing 15,000 tons of petrochemicals.

Marun’s chief executive announced that his company plans to establish two other chemical units, which are currently at the stage of signing the engineering contract.
