Chief officials of Russia’s Lukoil and French oil and gas major Total inquired Bijan Namdar Zanganeh about Iran’s new oil and gas projects during his visit to Vienna for the 169th OPEC meeting.
According to Mehr News Agency, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov expressed his company’s interest in developing Mansouri and Ab-Teymour oilfields in southern Iran in a meeting with Zanganeh this week.
“We are ready to cooperate with Russia to raise production from these two oilfields,” Zanganeh was quoted as saying.
Lukoil reopened its Tehran office in April last year and has been reportedly pushing for development rights of Iran’s Azar Oilfield following the country’s watershed nuclear deal with six world powers in July and its ensuing implementation more than four months ago.
The report added that Stephane Michel, Total’s Middle East and North Africa president, also discussed cooperation on the giant South Azadegan Oilfield.
Total has signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct technical surveys on South Azadegan, though Iranian officials say the agreement is only related to technical cooperation and Total should separately bid along with European rivals to secure the drilling rights for the field.
