A deputy oil minister announced on Thursday Britain’s oil and gas heavyweight British Petroleum will open its Tehran office in summer. Rokneddin Javadi, who is also managing director of National Iranian Oil Company, after meeting BP’s representative at Iran Oil Show in Tehran, told IRNA that the British giant is interested in investment in Iran’s oil and gas projects. BP, which is one of the world's seven super-major oil and gas companies, recently faced financial obstacles, forcing it to cut thousands of its workforce.  “The BP’s representative has underscored that the company’s policy toward Iran has changed and it is very eager to cooperate with Iran,” Javadi said. He added that Britons intend to deliver technology and finance to the Persian Gulf country. The NIOC chief also noted that it is very likely that he would hold a meeting with the representative of another British super-company Royal Dutch Shell on the sidelines of the 21st Iran Oil, Gas, Refining and Petrochemical Exhibition.
