Lorestan Petrochemical Company is due to be officially inaugurated in the presence of First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri on Wednesday.

According to ISNA, the complex has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of light and heavy ethylene and 30,000 tons of 1-butene.

With an investment of over $266 million provided by Bank of Industry and Mine, Lorestan Petrochemical Complex has become operational with a workforce of 580.

Petrochemical projects such as Middle East Kimiay-e Pars Company, Bushehr, Siraf, Lordegan and Masjed Soleiman have found investors from China.

Upon the completion of the downstream units of Lorestan complex, the number of jobs can be increased to 5,000.

The project has been carried out in three stages, which include utility units, 1-butene unit and polyethylene unit, which was finalized in the closing months of the last Iranian year (ended March 19, 2016).

The construction process of the company was started in September 2009.

Marzieh Shahdaei, managing director of National Petrochemical Company, had earlier said 14 petrochemical projects, including Lorestan complex, are to go on stream in the current Iranian year, which will raise Iran’s overall petrochemical output by about 7 million tons.
