Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan are working on the issue of establishing the North-South Energy Corridor linking the three countries, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said in a statement. The official added that the lifting of international sanctions against Iran would play a big role in the development of Azerbaijan's relations with that country, AzerNews reported. "Both countries are working hard in the transport sector. The North-South corridor, which involves the export of electricity from Russia to Azerbaijan and further to Iran, is being created. To this end, a special working group has been established and the energy ministers of the three countries are working on this issue," Aliyev said. He noted that Azerbaijan and Iran are implementing major projects in the oil and gas sector. "Transit of Iranian gas through Azerbaijan as well as issues such as Iran's use of Azerbaijani gas storage facilities … are on the agenda."
