The first developmental well of Sohrab Oilfield has been drilled and is ready for exploitation, director for drilling projects in Sohrab and Darkhovein oilfields said. Hailed as "one of the youngest oilfields" of Iran, Sohrab field is located in West Karun zone in Khuzestan Province and is undertaken by the National Iranian Drilling Company, Mehr News Agency reported. West Karun, located in southwest Iran, includes Yaran and Mansouri fields as well as Yadavaran, North and South Azadegan joint fields with Iraq. Jalil Matouri noted that Fath-48 drilling rig has been used to implement the project. "Based on a contract between NIDC and Arvandan Oil and Gas Company, nine repair wells and three developmental wells in Darkhovein and Sohrab oilfields are set to be drilled," he said. "In addition to Fath-48 rig, NIDC's Fath-54 drilling rig is being used at present for drilling a new oil well in Darkhovein field."
