The 11th International Water and Wastewater Exhibition of Iran, also known as Watex 2015, is due to open on September 26 at Tehran’s Permanent International Fairground and will run until Tuesday.

Over 270 domestic and 56 foreign companies from 16 countries, including prominent electrical companies, equipment manufacturers and vendors from China, Austria, Germany, Italy, France, the UK, the US, South Korea and Russia, are participating, ISNA reported.

Held in eight halls and focused exclusively on the water industry, the event provides participants with a platform to exchange ideas and discuss industry developments, learn about new technologies and systems, and demonstrate their latest products and achievements in this key sector.

Among peripheral activities, technical panel discussions will be held daily and host experts of the water and wastewater industry as well as state officials to discuss the latest scientific accomplishments in the field.

Creating an ideal platform for business collaborations, deals, product launches and brand building, the event will also act as a comprehensive source for the industry’s members, potential business visitors and prospective customers by providing exhaustive information on the industry and the latest trends influencing its progress.

According to Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian, more than 1,000 projects, including those pertaining to water supply, wastewater network expansion and electricity distribution, officially went on stream last month.

However, nearly 3,000 water and wastewater projects nationwide are incomplete due to lack of funds, while the development of 250 wastewater projects in urban areas requires more than $6.3 billion, according to the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company.
