Gas production in Toos Gas Field in northeast Iran is expected to reach 4 million cubic meters per day, technical director of East Oil and Gas Production Company said on Wednesday.

Mohammad Mambeygi added that plans are underway to start production at the field in the near future, estimating that the output will stand at 3-4 mcm/d for "seven consecutive years", Moj News Agency reported.

The gas field is around 100 kilometers northeast of Mashhad in Khorasan Razavi Province. It holds 62 billion cubic meters of gas, with 70-75% of its total reserves recoverable. Gas production from the field has yet to commence, nearly five years after it was discovered.

The National Iranian Oil Company had earlier said the field's output could be supplied to Shahid Hasheminejad Gas Refinery in Sarakhs, but that it would depend on the type of gas extracted from the field.

Also in the south, the construction of Anahita Oil Refinery started at an estimated cost of $3 billion.

Abdolreza Mesri, Kermanshah's member of parliament, said the refinery will create 12,000 jobs.

The refinery will have a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day. With the completion of the project, 26 downstream factories will also be established to produce bitumen, glue and washing materials.

Mesri also said a 10-year tax exemption and supply of feedstock to the complex with a 10% discount compared to Persian Gulf free-on-board prices are among the refinery's advantages.
