Drilling of 11 development and appraisal wells in the field has ended, South Yaran Oilfield's drilling project manager at the National Iranian Drilling Company said on Wednesday.

"The wells were drilled with the help of Fath 28, 37, 60 and 92 drilling rigs, located in West Karun," Nassrollah Abbasi added.

Highlighting the 65,000 meters of drilling in the region, Abbasi said, "7,000 meters of wells were drilled horizontally."

According to Abbasi, Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, in charge of South Yaran Oilfield development, will finish drilling nine more wells by the yearend.

The official noted that the project will be implemented in the form of a "turnkey contract", whereby NIDC is bound to design, procure and install all equipment and provide engineering services.

Underscoring the massive amount of extra work and services involved to meet the deadline, Abbasi said, "Well-efficiency tests were planned in three stages, which increased to 20 stages."

Yaran is a joint oilfield located in West Karun region in southwestern Iran, whose development utilizes domestic funding and know-how.
