The construction of Anahita Refinery, located in the west, will commence as of August 24, Abdolreza Mesri, a lawmaker from Kermanshah, said on Sunday.
According to Mesri, the refinery will be built at an estimated cost of $3 billion and create jobs for 2,000 people, ISNA reported.
"The refinery will have a capacity of 150,000 barrels per day. With the completion of the project, 26 downstream factories will also be established to produce bitumen, glue and washing materials," he said.
The lawmaker noted that $22 million were invested in feasibility studies conducted by two British companies and three contractors were selected after tendering the project.
Referring to the long-term economic viability of the venture, Mesri said, "Oil will be procured10% lower than the Persian Gulf FOB price and it will be delivered to the refinery through a 500-km pipeline from Khuzestan in the country's southwest."
National Iranian Oil Company, Social Welfare Organization and Civil Servants Pension Organization each hold a 33.3% share in the project.
