The operating license of industries that fail to present their plan to reduce pollution by March 2015 will be revoked, warned Rasoul Yarahmadi, the safety, environment and energy director of the ministry of industry.
Close to 40 percent of industries have announced plans to minimize pollution and “we hope the remainder present their plan to the ministry prior to the deadline,” IRNA quoted Yarahmadi as saying.
Upstream and downstream industries that have received permits from the ministry should meet safety, hygiene and environmental requirements, or their permits will be revoked. Refineries and petrochemical complexes are also obliged to come up with workable anti-pollution plans. The official said the ministry of industry supports private sector investors, but they will have to comply with safety and health standards to continue operations.
