Bushehr Fajr-Jam Gas Refinery produced 12,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas during the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), which is 6,000 tons more than the corresponding period of last year, Hadi Hashemzadeh Farhang, managing director of the refinery, said on Monday.

"More than 6 million cubic meters of natural gas have been processed during the period," the official added.

Underlining the processing capacity of natural gas in the country, currently standing at 190 million cubic meters, Hashemzadeh noted that the capacity is expected to reach 330 million cubic meters in the next three years, of which 16.5 million cubic meters will be processed in Fajr-Jam Refinery, IRNA reported.

The refinery went on stream in 1988 to process the gas from Nar and Kangan gasfields located in Jam and Riz in the east of Bushehr province in southern Iran. In spite of the fact that the processing capacity stood at 85 million cubic meters in the beginning, it increased to 110 million cubic meters in 2006 pursuant to the implementation of the capacity boosting project.

In addition to the said amount of LPG, the refinery has produced 1.5 million of gas condensates during the first three months of the current Iranian year, which were transferred to Siraf Port facilities for export.

The refinery processes 125 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Moreover, 25% of the whole gas used in the country are supplied by this company.
