With the completion of the project to boost gas production in SPD1 platform, the capacity of South Pars Phase 1 increased to 1 billion cubic meters, Seyyed Hadi Mirbaqeri, Petropars projects follow-up manager, said.

Referring to the implementation of the project, the manager said, "The third stage of South Pars Phase 1 platforms' project to boost capacity was successfully undertaken under the management of Petropars Company."

Iran International General Contractor Company, Petropars and Pars Oil and Gas Company had a trilateral deal to develop the project, ISNA quoted the manager as saying.

According to the official, SPD1 platform can now produce 1 billion cubic meters of gas independently per day. Moreover, SPD2 can be separated from Phase 1 to be connected to Phase 19. It is projected that 500 million cubic feet of gas are injected to the national gas grid from Phase 19.

According to the officials in Oil Ministry, 28.3 million cubic meters of gas are drawn per day from two platforms in Phase 1 which are then transferred to offshore facilities through a 105-meter 32-inch submarine pipeline.

SP Gas Field has a capacity of producing 820 million cubic meters of gas per day. Currently South Pars output, standing at 300 million cubic meters per day, accounts for 72% of the country's total gas consumption.
