Iran’s total gas exports to foreign countries reached over 9.6 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2014, according to the 64th Edition of the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, hellenicshippingnews.com reported.

In its Statistical Review of World Energy released on Wednesday, the BP stated that Iran has exported 9.6 bcm and imported 6.9 bcm of natural gas.

According to the data, the net exports of the Iranian gas stood at 2.7 bcm.

The report also indicates that Turkey was the main importer of the Iranian gas in 2014 (8.9 bcm), followed by Azerbaijan and Armenia.

In the statistical review, the BP has classed Iran as the world’s top gas reserves holder with 33.8 trillion cubic meters.

According to the report, Iran’s proven oil reserves at the end of 2014 did not change compared to a year earlier, in which the figure stood at 157.8 billion barrels.

The data also shows that the figure accounts for 9.3% of the world’s proven oil reserves in 2014 and that the country is the world’s fourth largest holder of oil reserves.

Since 1951, BP has annually published its Statistical Review of World Energy, which is considered an energy industry benchmark.
