The National Iranian Gas Company needs to revise its mandate to be able to emerge as an effective player on the international gas map, Shana news agency quoted Hamidreza Araghchi, managing director of NIGC as saying Saturday.

“Our procedures ought to be more transparent if we intend to enter world markets,” Araghchi said, adding that the company has taken effective steps over almost 50 years including supplying gas to urban and suburban regions, industries and power plants.

Needless to say, its activities on the national scale have contributed to both creating jobs and helped protect the environment.

Highlighting NIGC’s commitment to improve and enhance the quality of its services to domestic firms, the official reiterated, “In spite of the fact that we have accomplished a lot, it does not suffice to introduce ourselves as a key player internationally, rather we need changes and should strive to expand our scale and scope of activities.”

The manager believes that domestic companies should not only supply Iranian firms with equipment and machinery but also have an eye on exports to neighboring countries.
