The completion of oil and gas projects is a government priority to fulfill the needs of the 'economy of resistance,' a policy proposed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to counter the sanctions, promote domestic growth and reduce consumption, First Vice President Eshagh Jahangiri said in a meeting to finance major projects in the oil industry.

Jahangiri stressed on the importance of further contribution of the National Development Fund of Iran (NDFI), the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and the Management and Planning Organization to oil and gas projects and called on government officials to remove hurdles to their development, IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh briefed Jahangiri on major oil projects, including gas delivery to 2.5 million households nationwide by March 2017, expansion of the national gas network in Sistan and Balouchestan Province, gas exports to Iraq, launch of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery along with 12 other petrochemical projects and increase in Iran's extraction from joint oil and gas fields with Arab neighbors.
