Gas will be supplied to 1,300 villages in Khorasan Razavi Province with funding available through Note 2(G) of the budget of the outgoing year. A total of 9,000 billion rials ($268.6 million) has been allocated for major undertaking.

The project will be completed over three years if there is no hurdle in the provision of the funds, Habibollah Sadeghi, managing director of provincial gas company said. Funding will be procured through savings from replacing liquid fuel with gas in the major industries and power generation, IRNA reported. Note 2(G) establishes the investment framework for the oil ministry, allowing it to invest up to $100 billion in oil and gas projects, with priority given to gas supplies, and development of joint oil and gas fields.

In related news, a new gas compressor station went into operation Monday, boosting the country's gas transfer capacity by 70 million cubic meters a day, the project's executive manager said.

Pataveh-4 compressor station is designated for the 10th pipeline of the Iran Gas Trunkline (IGAT), and transfers gas from Phases 4 and 5 of South Pars gas field to the southern part of Isfahan Province.

The project was implemented in the form of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement, Hassan Paivan said, noting that Iranians carried out the project in the absence of international firms. It cost 40 million euros plus 400 billion rials ($12 million).

More than 90 percent of machinery and equipment needed for the project was procured by domestic firms. The compressor station enhances the input gas pressure from 750 pound-force per square inch (psi) to 1050 psi. It will balance production, transfer, distribution, and consumption, and stabilizes gas transfer capacity.

Isfahan is home to major industrial firms with growing gas consumption, which includes the giant Isfahan and Mobarakeh steel companies. IGAT10, 632km long and 56 inches wide, is designed to enhance the region's gas transfer capacity. Dahagh and Pol-Kaleh compressor stations, located in the IGAT4 in the province, are due to be commissioned by the Iranian yearend (March 20).
