2nd Condensate Shipment From SP Phases 15, 16 This Week

The second consignment of the gas condensate from phases 15 and 16 of the giant South Pars gas field will be ready for export within the next few days, contractor of the phases said Monday.

Reza Forouzesh said the storage and loading facilities in the two phases will transfer one million barrels of gas condensate soon, ILNA reported.

In February, a consignment of 500,000 barrels of gas condensate was loaded and exported from SP Phases 15 and 16.

He also said that 34 million cubic meters of natural gas is currently produced every day from the two phases.

Gas production from these phases is expected to reach 40 mcm/d in the coming weeks. The output will be injected into the national gas network, said Forouzesh.

Phases 15&16 of South Pars are under development for production of 56.6 mcm/d of natural gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane.

South Pars, which is jointly owned by Iran and Qatar, supplies 72% of Iran's daily gas demand.

  New Gas Transfer Platform

Platform A17 is ready to transfer gas from South Pars Phases 17&18 to onshore installations for sweetening, operator of the phases Hassan Boveiri said Monday.

Boveiri added that stable weather conditions will allow transfer of more volumes of sour gas to gas refineries of phases 17&18 as of next week so that gas sweetening will rise to 20 mcm/d.

He added that at present 2 trains out of 4 trains of the gas refineries are operational processing 18 mcm of gas per day.

Boveiri said that all the operations including implementation of complex refining operations, exploitation and transfer of products have been done compatible with international directions and standards.

Almost 90 percent of engineering, 100 percent of logistical works and more than 50 percent of raw material supply in the phases have been carried out by domestic companies and contractors.

Development plan of phases 17&18 is aimed at production of 50 mcm of gas per day, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate and 400 tons of sulfur per day.

Phases 17&18 along with phase 12 are the first priorities of NIOC for development of South Pars gas field.

A consortium comprising Industrial Development and Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), Oil Industries and Engineering Company (OIEC) and Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC), with 48 percent, 31 percent and 21 percent of shares, respectively, is in charge of developing South Pars Phases 17&18.
