Gas to Reach All Parts of Kermanshah by March 2024

All the urban and rural areas of Kermanshah Province will be connected to the national gas network by the end of the next Iranian year (March 2024), the head of the provincial gas company said.

“Currently, 99.6% of the urban population and 86.1% of the rural population have access to natural gas and gas supply projects are underway to provide gas for the remaining cities and villages,” Nasser Hosseini was also quoted as saying by IRNA.

The western Kermanshah Province comprises 2.4% of the country's population. Of the total 2 million people of the province, in which 75% live in urban areas (14 cities) and 25% live in rural areas (2,595 villages).

“Since the beginning of the current year [March 21], gas has been supplied to 80 villages in the province and now 1,815 villages are linked to the gas grid,” he said.

“Programs are underway to provide natural gas to another 178 villages. It is expected that by the end of the year [March 2023], 92% of the rural regions are supplied with natural gas.”

Regarding the status of gas supply to urban regions, the official noted that 30 out of 33 cities in the province have access to gas and one more will be connected to the grid by the end of the year.

“A total of 115 industrial units in Kermanshah were supplied with gas in the past seven months and now 2,960 units in the province are gas-fired,” Hosseini said, adding that plans are underway to link another 200 industrial units to the gas network.

“In the first half of the current year, over 9,000 new subscribers have been added to the natural gas consumers in the province,” he said.

Currently, 660,300 subscribers in the province are connected to the gas network, of which 527,660 subscribers are in the urban sector and 132,640 live in the rural areas.
