Pardis Petrochem Plant Boosts Sales by 119%

The sales of Pardis Petrochemical Company in southern Bushehr Province increased by 119% in the last fiscal year (September 2021-22) compared to the same period of the previous year.

The plant registered a unique record in its annual sales, as its revenues reached $1.3 billion for the first time since its establishment, ISNA reported.

During this period, the company produced over 3 million tons of urea and more than 2 million tons of ammonia.

The company’s value of ammonia exports rose by 289% and the export of urea also experienced 85% growth in value last year compared to a year before.

Located in Pars Special Zone of Economy and Energy in the city of Asalouyeh, 270 km southeast of Bushehr Port, Pardis Petrochemical Company has one of the largest urea and ammonia plants in the Middle East, producing over 3.225 million tons of urea and more than 2.04 million tons of ammonia annually.

A portion of the plant’s products is used inside the country and the rest is sold to foreign companies.

The domestic consumption of the plant’s urea amounts to 700,000 tons, while 2.5 million tons are exported to customers in Europe and Latin American countries, including Argentina and Brazil.

Urea and ammonia form the building block of many products, including plastics, textiles, pesticides, fertilizers and resin products.

Urea is widely used in Iran and the world as a nitrogen supply for a group of plants, including wheat, barley, sunflower and sugarbeet.

About 150 million tons of urea are used in the world annually, with the figure reaching 2 million tons in Iran.

Iran is self-sufficient in urea production. In two years, urea output is expected to reach 15 million tons per annum from 7.5 million tons now with the launch of several new plants.

Ammonia is used mainly in the production of fertilizers and chemicals like ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulfate, mono ammonium phosphate, diammonium phosphate and urea.

The country plans to add 8.5 million tons per year to its ammonia output by 2026 with 20 new plants.
