13 bcm Increase in Gas Supply to Power Plants

The volume of gas supply to power plants rose by 13 billion cubic meters over the first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year (ends March 20), ILNA reported Tuesday.

Director of gas supply division at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Nasser Ebrahimi, made the remarks, adding that during the aforementioned period gas delivery to power plants stood at 46.340 bcm, up 38 percent compared to the same period last year. While last year the amount of gas delivery to power plants hit 101 million cubic meters per day on average, it rose to 140 million cubic meters this year, Ebrahimi stated.

Gas delivery to large industries totaled 30 billion cubic meters during the 11-montgh period, indicating a 4 bcm increase year-on-year, he noted.

Average daily gas delivery to industries stood at 88 mcm this year, up 10 percent in comparison with the same period last year, Ebrahimi said.

The official added that NIGC also delivered 76.75 bcm of gas – 231 mcm/d – to households and commercial sector as well as small industries during the first 11 months of the year.
