A total of 124 electricity projects will be launched in Yazd Province within the next 10 day, the head of Yazd Electricity Distribution Company said.
“The projects fall into four categories of network construction in urban areas, electricity supply to villages, repairing networks in rural and urban regions and improving lighting of cities and villages, which have been completed at a cost of $4 million,” Bargh News also quoted Ali Jam as saying.
“Close to 100,000 meters of low- and medium-pressure cables have been installed as part of the projects,” he added.
According to the official, the central Yazd Province currently has 73,000 electricity subscribers.
Yazd is an industrial region and almost 75% of the power in the province are used by industries. It is one of Iran's well-known centers for textile, ceramic and construction material production. It is also a major tourist attraction.
The arid province has a very hot climate. The provincial capital, Yazd, is situated between the two deserts of Dasht-e Kavir and Dasht-e Lut, the latter known as one of the hottest places on earth.
Projects in Southeast
Bargh News has also reported that 121 power projects with about $3 million will be inaugurated in Sistan-Baluchestan Province in the next 10 days.
“With the launch of the projects, 25,562 households will have access to electricity,” managing director of the provincial Electricity Distribution Company said.
“Over 77 km of medium pressure cables, 367 km of low pressure cables and 212 transformers have been installed in the projects across the province, mostly in the rural areas,” Khalil Azaz-Zadeh added.
The official noted that within the next two weeks, executive operations for 51 projects will also begin with a credit of $2.5 million in the power sector of the province, especially in the villages.
“Upon their completion, 31,866 households will be supplied with safe and stable electricity. The projects include installation of 40 km of medium pressure cables, 179 km of low pressure cables and 93 transformers,” he said.
