Khuzestan Petrochemical Company has produced the polycarbonates used in dialysis filters that were previously imported from Germany, managing director of the company said.
“With the cooperation of one of the Red Crescent subsidiaries, the petrochemical company has broken the monopoly over this product, which was previously held by two companies in the world,” Reza Saleh Ahmadi was also quoted as saying by the Oil Ministry’s news agency Shana. He did not provide the name of foreign companies or the domestic one.
“As the only producer of polycarbonates and epoxy resin in the country, Khuzestan Petrochemical Plant is a supplier of feedstock required for switchgear industries and automakers,” he added.
Founded in 1997, the company is located in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone of the southwestern Khuzestan Province. By processing caustic soda and chlorine, the plant produces various grades of polycarbonates. It also produces liquid and solid grades of epoxy resins.
KZPC’s products are widely used in telecommunications, electronics, power, construction, aeronautics, medical and other industries.
It has an annual nominal production capacity of 35,000 tons of end products (25,000 tons of polycarbonates and 10,000 tons of epoxy resins) and 30,000 tons of intermediate products (Bisphenol A).
