Rural gas supply projects in Kermanshah Province continued in the last Persian calendar year (March 2020-2021) and 9,374 households in 219 villages were connected to the gas grid, managing director of the provincial gas company said.
“The measures are helping develop deprived regions. Almost 82% of the rural population of Kermanshah now have access to piped gas,” Sirous Shahbazi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
“Kermanshah Gas Company has plans to supply piped gas to all villages with more than 20 households by the end of the current year (March 2022),” Shahbazi said.
So far 1,680 villages home to 110,154 households comprising 82% of the rural population are linked to the gas network.
Last year 29,861 subscribers joined the provincial grid and to link new consumers 854 km of gas pipelines were laid in urban and rural areas. The province has 624,451 subscribers and the gas network has been expanded to nearly 10,500 km.
Regarding urban gas supply in the western province, Shahbazi said the entire urban population has access to piped natural gas.
Kermanshah province has a population of 2 million of which 75% live in urban areas and the rest are rural dwellers.
In related news, managing director of Khorasan Razavi Gas Company said 236 villages in the northeastern province were linked to the gas network last year.
“Last year piped gas was provided to 25,000 rural households and 98% of the rural and urban residents are connected to the piped gas system,” IRNA quoted Hassan Eftekhari as saying.
A project to supply piped gas to 160 villages that are home to 20,000 households is underway. “Up until 2013 the provincial gas pipeline extended over 21,000 km. Now it exceeds 36,000 kilometers.”
There are 2,733 villages with 533,781 households in the province of which 2,452 villages with a population of 502,351 households are now connected.
Almost the entire urban population in Khorasan Razavi has access to piped gas and the only city lagging is Bajgiran in Quchan County with hardly 500 people. Located on the Iran-Turkmenistan border, it is an official crossing point to neighboring Turkmenistan.
Only 56% of the urban and rural population in Khorasan Razavi was linked to the gas grid in 2013. That has now surpassed 93%, and with the new projects the entire population will be connected to the network.
Golestan Grid
IRNA reported that 90% of the total of 984 villages in Golestan Province are connected to the national natural gas network.
“Gas supply operations to 16 villages of Golestan are underway and will reach 30 villages in the near future,” managing director of the provincial gas company said.
“Almost 100% of the urban population with 380,000 households have access to natural gas,” Ali Talebi was quoted as saying by IRNA.
The length of gas grid has increased from 6,807 km to 9,841. Golestan Gas Company covers a population of about 1.9 million. It has been reported that 88% of the rural population and 95% of the total population are linked to the gas network.
