“Drilling ventures included 2,437 development wells, 117 exploratory wells and 142 appraisal wells while 2,028 wells were repaired."
Mousavi noted that the company has played a key role in drilling exploratory and development wells in Azadegan Oil Field in Khuzestan Province near the Iraqi border and in South Pars, the world's largest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf.
The NIDC has drilled in Yaran, Yadavaran and Darkhoin oil fields in Khuzestan, and the Azar field in Ilam Province in recent years.
Involved in almost 70% of Iran's onshore drilling, the company has 75 drilling rigs 68 of which are used in joint oilfields, namely Azar and South Pars. It undertakes both offshore and onshore contracts and provides 90% of drilling services to domestic companies.
NIDC services include well logging, cementing and acidizing, drill stem test, well testing, training, development and general services.
Mousavi said as and when it can NIDC prefers to buy domestic goods and services to promote local manufactures. The firm also draws on the capacity and potential of domestic firms in indigenizing parts and equipment for the key oil and gas sector.
Indigenized equipment includes blowout preventers, traction motors, draw-works, drilling fluid recycling systems, mission centrifugal pumps, top drives and drilling rig slow circulation rate pressure systems.
